For about a month now I was planning on getting a 1080p TV. I currently own a 720p TV which I had for 5 years, and I want an upgrade. I was planning on getting a full HD 1080p Television for my PS4 so I can enjoy the beautiful graphics all the way... and I have the money so why not?.

But after these rumors about the Playstation 4.5(Or the PS4K) I been thinking ALOT if I should just skip 1080p and jump straight to 4K. But I don't know what to do. If Sony does some type of "Trade in your old PS4 and save $200!" deal I WILL get the ps4K and 4k tv. But if the PS4K costs like $500 with no trade in deal then I'll just stick with my current PS4 and get a 1080p TV.

What would you do if you were in my position?

Also btw gaming monitors are too expensive, not getting those.

I just bought a SONY KDL-55W800C back in November of 2015.  I only paid less than $700 USD.  It's 55" 1080P, and after tweeking it is SWEET.

4k televisions have come down in price, but they are anywhere from $200 o $300 USD more expensive than 1080P televisions of comparable brands and specs.

A 4K television  is most effective when used as a PC monitor and displaying high resolution images.  Other than that, I don't think they're worth my money at least for now.  There is 4K streaming with various sources with select titles such as Netflix or OnDemand.  But you have to have an minimal internet speed which I cannot recall off of the top of my head.

From my personal perspective, 4K televisions are affordable, but I think it's worth saving the money by buying a cheaper but quality 1080P television.  Let the early adopters lead the way until 4K content is more commonly available.
