Bundling the wii with gamecube controllers would be needlessly expensive. Bundling a gamecube game with a gamecube controller would have been redundant. There's no comparing to limited edition bundles nintendo does every now and then.

The port was necessary due to incompatibility with wii controllers, and was made possible because it was essentially the same hardware. Now we'll probably have a different architeture and no controller issues.

SS was bundled with WMP for little cost, they even bundle Smash 4 with GC controllers it doesn't cost that much, these aren't even limited editions either these are bundles to save someone money of buying the game and peripheral seperate, bloody Wiiplay came with a free Wiimote for crying out loud.

The port happened because of the 3 reasons I mentioned, MC was an uncertain factor an no one at that point would have expected Wiisports to become a force and in fact Wiisports wasn't even featured much at all leading up to the Wii's launch, the main attention grabber was Zelda because it was at the time the most hyped game. A port wasn't needed but the 3 reasons I pointed out are why one was done as it was a strategic move, why do you think the GC version even launched after the Wii version despite the Wii version being the port? It's nothing to do with controllers and all to do with what I mentioned.

Wii motion plus was a small and cheap acessory, far cheaper than a full controller and was only partially bundled.
