It's a new situation, some countries are learning on the fly. 

In general though it's important to realize these are human beings and if we are to project ourselves as a modern society, then we need to treat people in a humane and decent way. 

Yes sure, more restrictions may be neccessary to better screen people, and beyond that to better integrate them when they do arrive. 

But becoming a cold group "angry and hostile" xenophobic assholes isn't the answer either. The fact is the overwhelming majority of people immigrating are decent people.

Why accept more then can be dealt with?

 

The argument that most are decent people becomes pointless when you bring so many that you can't help them causing the population to become resentful to them. 

Why do progressives get so caught up in ideals and never deal with reality. Then act like the Red Brigade during the Cultural Revultion shaming anyone who does not support thier overly optimistic viewpoint
