They were the favorite, but first they were late and more expensive, than the Xbox 360, and then they were even overwhelmed by someone that no one had on their list anymore: Nintendo. THey were so sure, that they cold use their dominating position on the games market to push BluRay, and now this decision did probably cost them their leading position. Without the BluRay drive and the HDMI they would have been much cheaper
I could be wrong but I think that Sony's biggest problem is that they're not taking advantage of opportunities ... I went over to my brother's house to watch the superbowl on his new HDTV ... For me (and I would suspect a large portion of the people watching the Superbowl) this was the first time I had watched a HD signal on a good quality HDTV. Going into the game I anticipated that Sony was going to use this opportunity to show off how pretty their system is; I was expecting some footage of Resistance, and Sony to demonstrate Blu-Ray (even at 1080i/720p it should be pretty impressive). What did we get? Nothing ... Not one comercial ... Sony ignored the largest audience of HD content in the world at a time where they needed a huge boost ...
