regardless of control methods, games libraries etc the one thing that this gen had in common with last gen is the "casual" audience collectively choose one console and stick to it.
Last gen the PS2 had that wrapped up with hits like singstar, eye toy and a vast amount of third party budget titles but Sony got too swept away with taking on MS and the 360 and they strived for bigger and better when Nintendo had Wii Sports to sweep them all up and the casuals console of choice will always be their gens leader - the PS2 had no real competiton last gen just as the Wii doesn't this time.
Also I know plenty Wii owners that also own a 360 or PS3.
