the problem is for the PS3 attatch rates mean nothing until the installbases are roughly the same size and the difference in sales in minimal to the point where at this rate it would still take to the end of this gen for the PS3 to catch up.

Attatch rates dont matter to devs and software sales on the 360 are so good that it's worth porting 90% of ps3 announced games over to the 360 for the time being - so people will still buy the 360 at a steady pace as they're getting the latest HD games. From this point of view I think MS has taken a bite out of Sony's last gen dominance so is it the beginning of the end?

I personally feel if MS turned around tomorrow and announced 12 months free XBL membership then this would boost sales more than the recent price cuts.
