Nice to hear you say you intend to "start very small." The absolute best way to improve your writing is to write and I imagine the same principle is probably true for developing games.
Your proposal looks good. I don't know much about crowd funding, as I'm not in any position to donate to anyone at the moment, but the best presentations I've seen have tried to look professional and included a lot of media, from artwork to screenshots. Make it look like you are totally invested in completing your project and people are more apt to trust you. Communication also seems to be a big key.
I know this wasn't much help but maybe it will bump for someone who is more knowledgeable on the subject. Regardless, I wish you luck.
