It's nice to see that Nintendo is addressing the problem. Well, actually virtually the problem is non-existing since you can toggle your files between SD and flash. WiiWare, Pay to Play and DLC you have to pay for generates the need for bigger storage for Nintendo and 3rd parties, so propably the 3rd parties have been preassuring Nintendo about the matter. And maybe Sega wants to put even its Saturn and DC games to VC. So running out of storage space equals leaving money on the table. I'd guess that popularity of DLC, from consumers as well as developers, was a big surprise for Nintendo. As Iwata was talking about cheap solution, running games from SD or allowing to run games from any USB HDD would be ones. But there's one problem with external HDD why i would see Nintendo reluctant to run games from a large HDD, which is piracy, since i doubt Nintendo wants a storage so big that you can fit any (or a number of) pirated retail games to it. By the way, WiiWare games are limited to 40MB, not 64.
