Well, yes, that's how you're supposed to fight them. But you can't keep both of them on the opposite side of a pillar from you at all times, and you have to attack sometimes. So you either blocked 100% of their attacks or you dodged 100%? You didn't mix it up at all? You never used strong attacks or switched to two-handed or, again, used any items?
How about the Pyromancy Flame? It's a weightless 'weapon' that isn't dependent on your stats, allowing it to be used with any 'build' at all. You didn't take advantage of this?
What a totally bizarre way to play Dark Souls. Just because you restricted yourself to two buttons doesn't mean the combat lacks depth. This is the same kind of over-simplification that leads to people dismissing Final Fantasy as a one-button game.
