I hate a genre therefore it's toxic.

It detracts from that which defines the medium, interactivity, therefore it's toxic.

And it's not like I'm the only one with this opinion: http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/the-order-1886

It might no have enough gameplay, but what it has is good, and it also has a good story and incredible atmosphere too. Its far from perfect but its a good game that gets many things right, and a few things wrong.

Diversity is a good thing to have. Not everyone likes to play Mario and Zelda.

Diversity is a good thing, I agree. Which is why the cinematic trend is a negative in my opinion; it homogenizes gaming and cinema, and it homogenizes genres within gaming.

It isn't a trend. So far I would say that only 3 games have been released which are cinematic at the level of movies. That isn't a trend at all, and it likely would never be because the best-selling one of these has sold 3 million units which isn't nearly as much as mainstraem games which are less cinematic.

Also, maybe you don't like it, and I would dislike it too if it happened more often, but when once in a while it happens and its done in a very good way I think its actually good. We've had too many "fast-paced shooters" which play very similarly while not all of them being good at what they do.
