Everyone replying to you with the word 'proprietary' could've also mentioned that it's the same charger they've been using since the DSi. So if you've bought a Nintendo handheld in the last 6 years, you have the right charger.

Unless you sold or gifted the DSi or old 3DS to someone else... why keep it, when the new 3DS is compatible to all DS, DSi and 3DS games?

I don't know why give it away .
