POKEMON OMEGA RUBY AND ALPHA SAPPHIRE BECOME UK'S BIGGEST POKEMON LAUNCH

Update: France 50% over XY Debut! (192k FW)

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have snatched the crown for being the UK's biggest Pokemon launch of all time.

When taken together, sales were up on last year's Pokemon X and Y by 17 percent according to Chart-Track, though exact figures weren't given out. Seeing as the games managed to break the 3 million sales mark in just three days elsewhere in the world, it'll be interesting to see when Nintendo announces a revised figure.

The previous record in the UK was held by 2011's Pokemon Black and White on the original DS.

Despite this, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire had to settle for the sixth and seventh positions in the UK chart respectively. Super Smash Bros. entered at 13th, which includes sales of both the Wii U and 3DS versions.

The only other new entry in the chart was the Sony-exclusive LittleBigPlanet 3, which came in at number 18.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare returned to number one thanks to Black Friday bundles, with FIFA 15 coming in second, GTA V in at third, Far Cry 4 fourth and Assassin's Creed Unity in fifth. Then came the two Pokemon titles, with Driveclub seeing a 999 percent increase in sales thanks to discounts of its PS4 bundle to snatch eighth place. Finally, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Minecraft: Xbox Edition were in ninth and tenth, respectively.
