For PS4, obviously. Everyone else, well, the numbers speak for themselves.

The question was mainly in relation to the topic, though - which just so happens to be about America.

It's difficult to do launch alligned comparisions with the PS2 since the PS4 launched in a different time frame, but no way is PS4 doing better than the PS2 in Japan and probably not Europe either.

It's behind the Wii too. So if that's the market leader, it will be the weakest market leader we've seen in some time.

PS2 sold 10 million units by August of 2001? I'd need to see a run down of that. I think the only machine ahead of the PS4 is the Wii. You can't say: "there's no way" and then not provide anything credible.

Edit: Never mind. Seems my skepticism was well put

Again like I said it's misleading because the PS2 launched in Japan first in March of 2000 and then didn't launch in North America until late 2000 and Europe even later.

Look at your numbers the PS2 sold 3.52 million in Japan in its first 7 months alone ... PS4 will take years to hit that number in Japan. In North America, PS2 has been outpacing the PS4 pretty soundly every month for 2001 vs. 2014 month to month comparisions.

This month is no exception ...

PS2 August 2001 - 327k

PS4 August 2014 - 190k

Not even close.

Even if PS4 could maintain a sales pace with the PS2 in NA (which its not), Japan sales are so laughably one-sided that Europe can't possibly make up that much difference between the two.
