I am completely surprised by this: http://www.gamesreviews.com/news/08/sony-ddos-attacks-affect-single-player-simple-fix-found/

How can this be affected? Well, how is easy, but why? Why would single-player games rely on a whatever response from a Sony server to run?

Not sure if serious, but if so... Some useless game loves to try and log to server (EA have a lot of it) for leaderboards and other useless content. Have saw a lot of errors when starting a game because of it.

Why not sure if serious? Do EA games not even start when there is no online? Trying to and getting nothing but still playable is something completely different.

Because you are quite knowledgeable. So I wasn't sure if you didn't knew or was taking a joke at the useless need to connect to server to play SP.

Never tried to play one of those games while psn was down. I was either offline and get an error with message "no leaderboard, please connect to psn" or something like that. Then I had to cancel to enter the game. When logged on psn as soon as a game tried to connect to server I also cancelled. Don't want to take the time just to have a score on leaderboard.

I don't have the game on the link to know how is the startup, but probably is the same trying to log before main menu without user request (companies forcing things we don't want, maybe piracy check).
