2 to 3 years easy? ahh..no. If Sony had these plans in motion 3 years ago they would have easily been ready for launch. Remember they still didn't announce anything. My guess is that they watched Microsoft's launch and saw the positive reaction of the achievments, saw the growing demand of things like myspace and proposed a plan considering the possibilities, perhaps early last year, and then decided to toss it on the back burner to see how the ps3 sold without it, and how successful Nintendo was with it's Miis, and channel concept. And then by january they were scurying to develop this concept. Don't forget since they haven't announced it yet it still might not be ready until winter or something, giving them more time to develop it. Don't forget this is business, smaller companies die if they don't take a chance and innovate, like Nintendo, while I appluad Nintendo's Wii I also see that they really had no choice but to be bold and daring. Otherwise they would of had a second rate X360 and only first parties to attract an audience. On the other hand companies like Sony go the big road, poor countless dollars into concepts and try to create a mainstream product that will recoop cost over years, you can't justify that to stock holders if no one else proved that business model works already.
