afaik Iran, Azerbaijan and Iraq are the only countries the Shia are the majority of the people, in other countries they are a minority

I never knew about Azerbaijan. Iraq was one of them too. Bahrain is as well but its ruling family is Sunni. I think that's it. Pakistan and India are the other two countries with large populaions of them. There are only about 150-200m of them and one third live in Iran.
