"In its financial earnings call for the quarter, Konami revealed its sales figures for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. As expected, the game found a much larger attachment rate among its traditional PlayStation fanbase than it did with the Xbox One’s. Roughly three times as many people bought the PlayStation 4 version of the game as the Xbox One, showing that the series still has a firm home on Sony platforms.
The fact that PlayStation 4 has also been outselling the Xbox One on similar ratio also might have something to do with it. Konami reports a ¥48.61 billion ($472.6 million) in total revenue for the Q1 of this year, a jump of ¥1.36 billion ($13.2 million) over last year’s first quarter. The entire Metal Gear Solid franchise sold 570,000 units total over last year’s 190,000. However, the major boost in revenue came from the ¥3.5 billion ($34 million) generated by Konami’s pachinko business, which climbed 400 percent.
Overall, Konami posted ¥220 billion ($2.2 billion) in revenue for the entire financial year, a 1.1 percent rise over last year. The sad part is that it is doing it without its traditional game development, only focusing on a single franchise and other ventures like pachinko, free-to-play mobile games, trading cards, and health clubs."

I guess having MGS4 as a PS3 exclusive has kept the franchise tied strongly with Playstation? :D
