Hm... Homebrew stuff on the PSP is a thorn in the side of game developers, but on the DS, R4 and R3 carts are much easier for consumers to never have to pay for software again. So in DS, developers have two enemies: illegaly downloaded software used trough R4 cartridges, and Nintendo's own softwate, which takes up much of the sales.
But still, as with the original PlayStation, hardware sales are extremely high, so even with these drawbacks, developing for DS is still worth it.
