Your PC is fine. Stick a GTX760 or a R9 280X and you are good to go. Those cards will be sufficient for playing games at 1080p at reasonably high settings for quite a while yet.
You can of course spend a little more for a higher end GPU; depending on your needs.
Also, echoing the guys above.. an SSD might also be a good investment; to improve the overall performance of your PC.
