Edge of Tomorrow has a 90 % on Rottentomatoes.com but still Bombed at the North American Box office. People Hating on him for his Religous beliefs is NOT cool!

I think it has something to do with Tom Cruise. Apart from family entertainment, many Americans are interested in sensationalist celebrities who give off an aura of danger and somewhat craziness. This contrasts with Tom Cruise's personality, who has always portrayed himself as a calm, reasonable man of moral character; hence the lower sales.
