The simililarities in all those games is that Insomniac had no creative control over them. Also they were too serious. Sunset Overdrive is the game Insomniac has been wanting to make for 20 years.

Haven't really paid much attention to this game, but it really looks very good, and very entertaining. However, my fear is that:

a) This really isn't a kind of game to attract wider audience. Mainly to attract new users. I can see this game do decently well among existing XOne owners, but, other than some sort of bundle/price drop incentive, don't see many people deciding to buy XOne based on Sunset Overdrive.

b) game comes out "Fall". October or early November, I guess. I'm just afraid it will get swallowed up by an onslaught of multiplatform titles. It will be a very slow release summer, followed by September's Destiny that seems to have chased away all other games into Q4. Then all of a sudden we get: Dragon Age, Mordor, Alien, Driveclub, The Crew, Project CARS [one of those needs to be delayed, for sure], Batman, Assassin's Creed, CoD, FIFA, NBA 2K.... 10 huge or potentially huge sellers. S.O. just might not stand a chance, a new, quirky IP...

Had the game come out in June or August it would probably do much better. Or in February 2015...

Or, of course, this franchise might just be a new hit to follow the footsteps of Saints Row, and prove me wrong...
