I'm thinking FY17 is when we'll see something, but it won't be released until FY18. They'll drop software support in FY17 to focus on the launch titles for the next console, like they did with the Wii in 2011 for the Wii U launch in 2012. Unless this QoL platform really takes off and provides them with the resources to support Wii U and develop for the new console at once, that's how I see things going.

I'm really glad to hear they're not selling the hardware at a loss anymore! That's one step closer to the next price cut, you know! If Mario Kart 8 takes off, it should give them the profit they need to coax them into another cut, maybe even this holiday for Smash. And that mobile app for Mario Kart should help extend the legs a bit, since it'll help with exposure.
