I'm sorry if you're offended, but it is ignorant to draw conclusions from used games and consoles. Living there, you know how good the trade-in prices are and know how often people return their game or console once they beat what they had with it. 24 consoles across a bunch stores in a populated area like Osaka means effectively nothing. Posting anecdotes about an area unknown to most of the forum generally will lead to misunderstanding, so again, I didn't want to personally insult you, but I don't think PS4 is domed like your OP suggests.

At no point in the OP do I say that the PS4 is doomed. I clearly state that I think that it will be a success, just less so than the previous generation. At least, based on the current situation.

In terms of my ignorance, I just live in Japan and shop in these stores all the time, but what do I know?

At my closest game store, the trade-in value of a PS4 camera bundle is 33000 yen. That means that whoever trades in their PS4 loses over 10000yen in the process (over $100).

Yesterday (Sunday) I went to two locations more out in the country north of Osaka and both had PS4 consoles. This is of course more anecdotal evidence. Should such evidence not be posted because it doesn't fit with your personal narrative about how the PS4 is doing in Japan? Should it not be posted because it does not cover the entire Japanese narrative of the PS4? Well, here is one narrative of how the PS4 is doing in Japan at the moment. There are simply lots of used PS4 consoles in circulation in the big cities and out in the country.
