...you'll get used to how much pressure it takes to break and how long it takes to break and then it will get better. in my early days i kept slamming the brakes afraid i wouldn't stop in time.

my only other advice is keep your eyes far down the road. if you look at the lines on the road only 10-20 feet in front of you you'll end up swerving left/right a lot as you attempt to correct yourself. keep your eyes about a 1/2 mile down the road and you'll have a much smoother ride.
