The Last Story was good, but the length was a huge disapointment for me. It was also release once the Wii was more or less dead, and had a very limited release in NA. Don't even get me started on Tales of Symphonia 2.. One of the worst RPGs I've played in a long long time. I played a bit of Lost Odyssey and Vesperia at a friends house, and from what I saw, they were both better games. As for install base and console power.. Meeh.. I disagree. Sales wise, Wii U and Xbox One are going to stay neck and neck throughout the whole generation. Yeah the Wii U is a lot weaker, but it uses the same modern tech and it's running on a much more efficient archetecture. Resolution and frame rate will need to be dropped without a doubt, but the tech is there. |
People keep using that "it has the tech" left and right. But they fail to understand what it means for such tech to be included in such a limited hardware. Even if it can do tesselation, for example, it doesn't mean it can do it alongside other modern features at the same time and give a properly playable result. The option might be there, but the horsepower is holding it back greatly.
A Radeon HD 5770 can't run Tomb Raider with all DX11 effects on remotely well (like tressFX and Tesselation turned ON, even at 720p), despite being a certified DX11 GPU. ¬_¬
