If software was so good, it'd be selling better than it is. To answer the ? No. It's still the laughing stock of this gen.

Umm.....no. Quality software does not equel good sales. There are plenty of good games that received good reviews and were liked by gamers but completely bombed. A perfect example of this is Okami. In fact, I believe that was considered game of the year for 2006. It bombed and caused a studio to be shut down. Marketing is what sells a game and if a game is exclusive to a particular platform, then successful marketing of that platform is what will help sell games. In Okami's case, the PS2 was already very successful. Okami's marketing however was just okay or could even be considered poor when compared to the red carpet treatment Capcom would have given to a Resident Evil game or a Devil May Cry game. In Wii U's case, the games themselves aren't marketed badly, but the system is so nobody wants to buy it.

As for the laughing stock of this generation, I think all three companies deserve that prize. Nintendo can't seem to successfully market consoles even though they're geniuses at marketing handheld systems. Sony is having a lot of success with PS4 but still might go bankrupt in two years, and then the guy who publicly proclaimed that he would sell off the Xbox division if he were Microsoft's new CEO was just hired by Microsoft to run the Xbox division. It also seems like Xbox One will require some damage control PR at least several times a year from now on. So I don't think Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft can hold their heads high right now.

So lemme get this straight, a games console is selling poorly because the hardware is such that nobody wants it. But the games on the console are great. Just not great enough to get ppl to want to buy the hardware?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
