Sony says enough is enough, to cut 5,000 jobs, split off PC, TV operations

I don't know all details about the company but one thing does make sense. Better to spin off or sell of a money leaking division or department at a loss and focus on other things than keep it around for years losing money and hoping for a better outcome that is unlikely to happen.
