You guys do realize that Satoru Iwata said the exact samething many months ago or a year or so ago?
Both this time and previous time, what he said is that Nintendo will no longer make short gaming experiences because the Smartphone & Tablet market now has the short games market under lock & key.
The only difference between this speech and his previous one, is that in this one, he is saying they will make short experience games once again (tradition is back at Nintendo), but this time they will be Smartphone/Tablet exclusive, instead of Nintendo exclusives. But they might make it available for both Smartphone/Tablet & Nintendo.
So there is NO Virtual Console he was talking about. He was talking making new games like some of the games Nintendo use to make back in the day they use to stick to traditional ways, but for Smartphones & Tablets. It sounds like some new IPs and/or completely new mini games of current IPs but for Smartphones & Tablets.
The question is, what kind if Short games will Nintendo make for Smartphones & Tablets? Especially since they haven't made short games in some years now.
But he also said in the recent statement, that they are only considering this.
Maybe we will see a "new Dr. Mario", but as a Smartphone/Tablet exclusive.
