3DS sold 4.9 million this year man

?? Why don't you put that figure into context? It means nothing when you blurt out a number like that.

The DS was very frontloaded. After that initial momentum it got third party support out the ass and it was a super novel concept at the time

Compare the 3DS to the GBA and its sales curve. The 3DS has different types of software, so core games(SMT 4, Fire Emblem,Kid Icarus) and games that appeal to both parties( IE animal crossing, puzzles and dragons, streetpass games) do better on this type of device

3DS managed 4.1 million in 2011, 5.6 million in 2012 and 4.9 million in 2013. Several big titles have come out recently this quarter. The WiiU's out right now selling more. Less money around. PS4's also coming out soon( although given the Vta's performance, that isnt going to be pretty sight to see I think, pratically every PS4 game for launch is also on the PS3. So I fail to see what its going to motivate anyone there for beyond keeping early adopters happy for a bit)

Pokemon also has a habit of increasing hardware sales for the next year rather than in the year of release

The 3DS is also the first handheld with Dragon Quest and Smash Brothers on it. And if Nintendo keeps on creating genuinely innovative and new software like the streetpass games and darumeshi sports store ( a very well executed free to play game) the 3DS will keep chugging along healthily

So I think it will be up from this year, but still less than when the 3DS XL came out, then goes back down somewhat in year 5. From there I se NIntendo releasing a new SKU.
