Decent opening I guess, but not amazing. It's higher than OoT3D had, but that game had next to no userbase to sell to. According to VGC both DS games had a bigger opening (305k and 307k). For shits and giggles I looked up A Link to the Past on SNES, VGC has Japan numbers, and that had a first week of 318k

Well, Final Fantasy is bigger than Zelda, especially in Japan, on top of being more front-loaded compared to typical Nintendo games so I wouldn't really call it surprising.
