Microsoft have invested a ton into the likes of Summer of Arcade titles and helping to bring Minecraft from being a play thing of PC introverts to now being the 1st or 2nd most played game on xbox live.
They're kinda the leader in bringing video content to the home systems too, while I accept that isn't something everyone wants, being able to chuck netflix on over the holidays and find some cool Xmas movies in seconds was pretty damn nice. They aren't aiming to break stuff, just integrate a lot of non gaming stuff which you might use sometimes.
