Firstly NES was their first home console. 

Secondly the controller is what made the NES a Wii like system in its time. Every other console after it become a "traditional console"

Thirdly Metallicube knows more about this stuff then you which is evident by your replies to him.

I forgot to mention the funniest part, playstation was the console that made gaming mainstream, so to say that nintendo first console was simple and that's the reason it sold great is laughable, its  the exact opossite of the wii.
