re: BW compability, if you are buying an actual SteamBox those do not have Windows,
and installing and getting that to work may be complicated with drivers, etc.
otherwise SteamOS is brandnew so there is now BW compatability for it to do for itself,
although I suppose there is a few decent Linux games that will also run fine with it if you can install some extra packages over the network.
I don't get the complaining about 'pay for online' stuff with PS4 as the context certainly,
unlike XBone you DON'T need to pay for that for anything remotely connected to online
like Netflix or internet browsing, and in fact many F2P online games will not require it either,
the point of some games requiring it is that they are taking advantage of the server infrastructure
paid for by the online payment, which would need to be paid for somehow if Sony didn't run that.
Unless there is a reason why game devs/pubs seek out higher profit margin with paid online ala XboxGold/PS+
but for some reason are happy to accept lower margins when offering online games outside that format...?
