I wouldn't buy the wii because theres not enough games to last enough hours that i play it.

for instance, theres no shooter i can play for weeks online. theres no way i can get addicted to getting my kill death ratio better.

now i would have fun playing zelda, smg, and metroid, but after i beat them i wouldnt really play the console.

yea its fun, its just that to be my main console it doesnt have near enough stuff to sustain my gamer lifestyle.

You sound like an "online shooter" kind of guy. Let me suggest buying a Wii as a second console, because otherwise you'll miss out on some of the best reviewed and most popular experiences of this generation.

I have a PS3 as my second console, to play things such as MGS4.

My rule, if you got a good game for every 50 bucks the system cost, that you want to play, you got a legitemate reason to own it, and you can justify the expense. So, at 250 bucks, when 5 games come out you really, really want to play, start saving, imo.

i do like shooters, but i dont like them as much as you think.

i just wish the online play of teh wii were up to par. even if its just a racing game, i like to play my games for a long time so i actually get their value. i.e. after i beat the singleplayer i want there to be more to do (not in all games obviously, games like uncharted are good with just singleplayer. I would however like SOME games to have multiplayer.)

if i did buy a wii, i would beat zelda and smg and a few others and then what would i have to do?

I just dont think they have enough of the good/ decent games to keep me interested.

they have the few great games that i would play, but not the 3rd party games like call of duty 4,

a decent baseball game,  assassins creed, those type of games that you can play on ps/360/pc.

and all those 3rd party type games go along with all the great first party exclusives, so wii would never be enough.
