What I think is more interesting is that the email says "you're a fan". It could have something to do with a social media applet rather than a score or giveaway.

My activity might have something to do with it. I have a gamerscore over 86K. Maybe it was due to over 20 fighting games being in my Xbox activity.

Surely my Gold membership was a pre-requisite.

You're probably right with the score statement...

Someone on another gaming site I visit said they have 247,000 score and received the same email except stating they will be getting the console and Forza.  No way of knowing if that is true though.  I found this via google too:
