Just thought it was worth noting that the Vita saw a very nice increase in Japan thanks to the new model.

After 4 pages of posts, very few people were downplaying the achievement.

For any of you that posted in that thread with encouragement and yet castigated the Wii U's achievement in this thread, shame on you. And vice versa.

One gives actual figures so we can see that Vita actually did sell well and had a large boost while Wii U is given a mere percentage increase at a time when it was already selling horrendus, and thus, remains selling horribly.  They are not comparable in the slightest.

They did indeed have something of comparability.  They both saw a very large increase over very low previous week sales.    The difference is in the volume beyond the compeition and the location (one nation is console heavy while the other is portable heavy).

However, it was in the way each console was acknowledged for their respective achievement that was truly different.   One was accepted for the solid sales increase despite still being greatly outsold by the compeition while the other was absolutely chastised anyway.  One was allowed to enjoy its success, the other was not.

And the mere fact you had to reply with the same case as others (your second post ont he site no less...not suspicious at all) tells me you simply can't acknowledge the achievement and leave it at that.

Suspicious?  Why are you even throwing post count in this and trying to assume ridiculousness?  What achievement is there?  Vita selling 60k from what it was doing previously in a market dominated by the 3DS is a remarkable achievment.  Wii U rising from selling nothing to still selling nothing isn't.  Yeah, it's nice that it rose, but percentages do not paint the whole picture.

A few weeks ago, the 360 experienced a near 600% increase in Japan, yet was that applauded?  Of course not because it only sold ~100 units the week before and ~700 after.  That's not an achievement that should be taken the same way as Wii U's rise in the UK, just as Wii U to the Vita in Japan.  They are not comparable.  Context is needed in every case, and Wii U's rise just isn't impressive.
