No one can do 2D fighting games like Arc System Works does, and they demonstrated it once more today by releasing a new trailer of BlazBlue: Chronophantasma, and it’s one of the best fighting game trailers I’ve seen in a long time.

The video mixes anime cutscenes with ultra-fast fighting that looks as smooth as silk, in perfect BlazBlue style. It also introduces the extremely rich cast of the game.

Seriously, when I see games like this, I wonder if we really need the next generation and all its 3D frills. I’m just a little disappointed because I’m throwing money at the screen right now, and nothing is happening.

BlazBlue: Chronophantasma will be released in Japan exclusively for the PS3 on October the 24th, while we’ll have to wait for the first quarter of next year for a western release.
