Anyone thinking Linux will have any meaningful impact on the PC gaming market in the next 10 years (ever?) has to be mad. Linux may be great for users who either need a set amount of tasks done as efficiently as possible or just like to have total controler over even OS level stuff, but from the viewpoint of a "regular" user it's still far away from being an alternative.

Did you miss the Steam OS announcements? There's definite potential there if Valve can push it appropriately.

Call me a heretic, I don't think SteamOS will change anything. Until it is 100% compatible with all games released in at least the last 10 years I certainly won't change from Windows.
