The same things you found in Windows 7... The only thing is the removal of the Start menu and the addition of the Metro UI. I'm using Windows 8 and 99% of the time I'm in desktop mode which is identical to Windows 7.
So
> 99% equivalent to Windows 7
> - Start Menu
> + New Start Screen (like it or not, matter of preferences, I like it)
> + Having a Windows Tablet I can buy apps that works on my desktop AND on my tablet (even with an ARM CPU)
> + If you do not like the Metro UI you can avoid it like 99% of the time
> + People saying that you absolutely need a "touch screen" seems to spend the majority of their time in the Metro UI because, as I said the desktop is 99% identical to Windows 7 and DOES not require a touch screen
