Sony has never gave his back on consumers in fact I think not a single comercial company on their sane mind would want to do that, consumers are their main income, is not rocket science you know :P, but for MS and his monopolistic ways did that they went and put their own rules, rules or features consumers never asked for and not only that, they have no shame , for example that mattrick guy said, "don't have online so then go and buy a 360 that's an offline device ", seriously ?.
and there's the 180 thing, do you guys believe at MS they will actually stay true to its words ? I definitely not.
