Japan isn't doing hot either. It's really only the 3DS that puts up good numbers, everything else is in the shutter.

Europe is doing poorly too, it just may not look that way because Europe is traditionally behind the curve in video game system adoption. While the late adoption rate may favor the overall market right now (in comparison with the USA and Japan), it doesn't bode well for new systems.

The X1 is poised to tank with its $/€500 price tag. As for the PS4, don't be shocked if it only matches the pace of the $/€600 PS3. And once the aformentioned things become reality, I will keep shouting about how tablets are cannibalizing home consoles, because correlation =/= causation be damned.
