My advice is pick 1 or 2 anime's and watch them. If you like them see what others have recommended.
This one guy on youtube Anime Zone - gigguk. I tend to agree with his reviews 9/10 times. He's also reviewed most of the better anime's IMO, and the video's themselves are kinda funny. At 5-10 minutes each, they give you a good sense of the quality of the anime without spoiling anything. I'll try to embed the code, the video below is Death Note's review
Yeah im up to episode 19 of Death note, only started when I opened the thread. this is the anime I read the spoiler about :( Im really enjoying it though :)

What exact spoiler did you read? If it's about the end, it's not really a spoiler, it's a fairly obvious conclusion.

BTW, I'm not sure if people recommended this as it's a fiarly new Anime, but Baccanno! - It's....wow, it's f***ing good, it's about the lives of Immortal people who can only be killed by each other.
