During a panel held yesterday at PAX Prime, Dragon Age: Inquisition Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw dropped a very interesting (and slightly garbled) statement on how the game will perform on different platforms, caught on film by Youtube user yaypony.

Let’s be realistic here, the Xbox 360 will probably look not quite as nice as the PC or the newer consoles… Or the PS3…

At this point Executive Producer Mark Darrah came to the rescue:

It looks surprisingly nice though..

Laidlaw continued:

Yeah, we’ve done some early tests and it’s very promising. It’s not going to look horrible but you know, more horsepower means you can get more loads up the hill.

While the fact that the Xbox 360 version won’t look as good as the PC version or the next generation console versions was to be expected, it’s interesting to see it defined inferior to the PS3 version as well.

There’s the slight possibility that the addition of “or the PS3″ at the end of the sentence meant to bunch it with the Xbox 360, meaning that both Xbox 360 and PS3 will look inferior to PC and the next generation consoles, but considering the wording and the fact that Laidlaw continues to talk in singular form makes it quite unlikely.

We reached out to Bioware for a clarification on the issue, and we’ll keep you updated if we receive any further information or a clarifying statement. You can check out the video below.

Did the developers finally learn how to develop correctly for the PS3? :D
