Yeah, the 2DS and 3DS screens are indeed of the same size. I made my initial false assuption based on one image I saw close to the system's reveal.

Still, your 3DS XL comparison has a flaw. Looking at the image that you provided, you can see that it is easier to reach the entire 2DS touchscreen since the middle of it is closer to the edges.
