Wii-U is a thing and has been for 2 years now (although it's only been on the market for ~ 8 months). Although it's not having the greatest time in Japan since launch.

Regardless, PS3 is the go-to Otaku console and a combination of many of the Otaku developers (Nippon Ichi; Gust; Compile Heart; Nihon Falcom etc.) develop almost exclusively for Sony consoles and tend to localise most of their games. That certainly does give PS3 an advantage.

And I don't see them leaving next gen either. At least, those 4 I listed have been pretty loyal to Sony for a number of generations now, but things certainly can change.

Tales of & Ni No Kuni aren't great examples really. They're both Namco games and they flip flop wherever the money is, really. I mean, we had a 360 exclusive Tales followed by two Wii exclusive Tales before we even had an original title developed for PS3. Which blew up in sales, which is why the series has stayed there.
