Well its definitely easy to say such a thing now... The fact that they didn't specify before does make it suspicious, but then again there wasn't anything to specify as they weren't making any changes. Also Jack Tretton said that that he was against the idea over a year ago to the press so I wasn't surprised.

SONY in the Begining: "Ristrictions on used games will be up to the publisher."
PS Fans: "So exactly as it is on PS3 now? Cool."
Other Console fans: "No. It means they can implement the same level of DRM as Xbone. SONY's just setting up a scapegoat for themselves."

SONY later on: "Ristrictions on used games will be up to the publisher."
PS Fans: "It really seems like it's just the same system as the PS3 in which publishers can use a method like online passes."
Other Console fans: "No. Expect DRM similar to what MS is doing system wide but by every single publisher. Microsoft is forcing it and SONY is allowing it."

SONY at E3: "It's exactly the same as it is on PS3."
PS Fans: "Fuck yea."
Other console fans: "... "

EDITED

Actually, the last part...other console fans still said it was the same as xbone, or questioned whether DRM was actually that bad (calling others babies), or said DRM is the future, or said "sony just waited til the last minute to say something. Xbox backlash changed their minds".

I think there was even a thread asserting that Sony had TWO different e3 presentations, one was if xb1 confirmed drm and one if they didn't. How hilarious is that?
