Remember that nothing is perfect.

Of course. It's nice to see them making improvements. In the DualShock 3 I don't like the sllipering analogs and the R2 and L2 buttons. In DS4 they improved the analogs and put triggers on the controller. About X360 one, I don't like the D-pad and the triggers are to stiff. RB and LB are a little unconfortable to. These things looks improved on the X1 controller.

If I had to choose between X360 controller or DS3, in my personal opinion, it would be DS3. Both have flaws, but the 360 D-pad is a much serious one than the R2/L2 or analogs on DS3, since it impacts a lot fighting games. About the DS4 and X1's controller, I will have to wait the chance to have both to have an opinion (have, not only try. I've only discovered the flaws on DS3 after buying a PS3 and the flaws on X360 controller after buying two for my PC. Before that, I've used both but didn't noted the problems).
