You are missing the point, the point of kinect is to help sell media hub device, it is marketing gimmick for the masses.
I own a xbox 360 with Kinect and I use it video chat and occasionally play a kinect game. Guess what when I am not using it I can turn it off or disconnect it from the system completely and the 360 willl still function.
Would I recommend kinect to friend or relative for xbox 360 the answer is no.
I am guessing you would, but please respond.
I will probably buy an xbox one but not at launch.
