They used "Spinlocks" probably because PS3 had a weird CPU structure (one Big core ,  lots of Small sub cores)  Spinlocking doesn't take much CPU resources , but it bugs out a lot since its well "Small" so if it bugs out there is no failsafe and it just stops, however with "mutexe" they're Fast and big, but are CPU hoggers,

 

However... they are WRONG about "spinlocking is not nice for multicore" actually it is made for that, I am guessing they meant its not nice incase they fail since if one of the threads fail the others kind of fail too, and the bugs are "Where is my head?!" kind of stuff.

When was Naughty Dog ever like that?  Or am I taking that sentence wrong?  Not trying to start something, but I've never seen Naughty Dog talk like that.


they're the ones who started the whole "the power of the cell" thing, and they continued it with Uncharted 2, they stopped saying that with UC3.

they always said stuff like "Uncharted is using only (something) percent of the power of the PS3!" "PS3 is the best console to work on (like they worked on anything else)" "Sony is the best partner we ever had (like they had another partner)" 

Ah, I can understand why they would say that about the cell, but I think it was more of PS fans who blew it out of proportion.   I've never seen them say the last two things though.  Oh well I guess.
