SEGA has announced that a remake of the original Sonic the Hedgehog will soon be hitting the Nintendo 3DS. The updated game features stereoscopic 3D visuals, and in it, Sonic is equipped with his Spin Dash move and Homing Attack. Arguably, the most notable additions are the inclusions of a save function and the ability to personalize each button’s function. 3D Sonic the Hedgehog will be released in Japan next week, on May 15th, on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS

pretty cool, I like the look of simple sprite based games in 3D (like VVVVVV) and a portable version of Sonic 1 ? I´m in

Gah!

Sega, why are you so enthralled about adding the homing attack to EVERY Sonic game? (including the 2D sidescrollers). The whole POINT of the homing attack was to account for the lack of depth perception on 3D Sonic. Now it's on 2D versions of the game and is nothing more than a "cheap whore" attack.

(I take it this game is still a sidescroller with 3D visuals ala Classic Sonic Generations/Sonic 4)
